Those were some great insights Winnie and I would like to reiterate about what they said on how important it is to blog for the 'readers' vs. 'the company's product."
Ann and Mack really emphasized the importance of identifying the topics that are of interest to your readers as opposed to just talking about updates from your company. We've heard over and over this week that 'nobody gives a damn about your products, except you." I've found this to be a very wise statement and will do my best to put it into practice. So my takeaway on this is that one of the goals of blogging is to provide a destination where your readers can come to learn about 'how' your product or service can change or improve their life vs. the 'what' of the product and how cool it is.
Another goal they mentioned is that blogging can give you a 'voice' on the web which allows for some reputation management.
Lastly, responding to your reader's comments can provide a platform where personalized communication can take place. Especially if you refer to them by their first name.
I believe in the first session "1 IMU: How to Blog Effectively for Business (GF101)". The presenters referred to the Blogs Value to a person/business rather than goals. A Blogs value is the following:
Allows you to easily publish content (easy to create blog)
Ability to get feedback and interaction from those visiting your blog
Search Engines love blogs and index them quickly
Blogs are a great communication tool in crisis situations.
