This position will play a key role in our communications efforts and be broadly responsible for representing the ACLU of Massachusetts online.

Position Overview

The ACLU of Massachusetts seeks a full-time coordinator for its online communications.

This position will play a key role in our communication efforts. Reporting to the Communications Director, the Coordinator will be adept at representing the work of the ACLU in a range of online venues, including email alerts to our supporters, web pages, blogs, and social networking sites. In addition, the Coordinator will help with other communications work as needed.

The Coordinator will assume primary technical responsibility for the organization's constituent relationship management system (Convio), including data management. The position especially requires attention to technical details and database records. It also requires the ability to work with a team to draft, edit, and proofread copy such as email alerts to ACLU supporters, blog entries, and other online content.

As needed, the Coordinator will also help with major ACLU events, such as our annual statewide conference, Constitution Day program, Bill of Rights Dinner, our presence at Boston Pride and July 4, and others.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of the latest online design trends, techniques, and tools
• Familiarity with a constituent relationship management (CRM) system, such as Convio or Constant Contact, and related data management
• Thorough knowledge of tools such as Adobe’s Creative Suite, including Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and Illustrator, or equivalents
• Experience as a webmaster, enabling collaboration in the creation and updating of online content
• Strong written and verbal skills
• Active experience with social networking
• Excellent project management skills, including strong, consistent attention to detail, an organized work style, and the ability to independently manage several projects at one time
• Strong collaboration skills for working with other staff -- including legislative specialists and lawyers -- board members, volunteers, and others
• Comfort working in a small, fast-paced organization
• Ability to work within organizational style guidelines
• Availability to work beyond 9–5 as needed
• Good problem-solving skills, flexibility, determination and good humor
• Experience in nonprofit, advocacy or other community-based groups is valuable
• Firm commitment to the mission and principles of the ACLU

Other Qualifications

Other helpful qualifications for this position include:

• Print design experience
• Familiarity with PowerPoint and ability to help staff develop presentations
• Experience editing video and audio content for online distribution
• Experience developing systems that meet organizational needs, such as well organized collections of photographs and other audio-visual content
• Experience in photography and videography
