Need help with evaluating a blog promotion tool

Posted August 27th, 2009 by beehivebits

Can anyone advise if they have used the following website to promotoe/drive traffic to their blog- http://howtopromoteablog.com

I found this site as advertiser on http://problogger.net and not sure of the credibility. I may use Alexa ranking as suggested by Hubspot but I would like some specific feedback on this or other sites like it?

Thanks,

Bee

I believe that a strong online PR campaign associated with great content will help get the word out about your blog. In my experience of building marketing operations & automation software, we always concetrate on automating the manual labor of marketing, but not the actual communication.

I our experience, the activity that generates the most traffic is promotiing our content on forums, twitter and other blogs by writing PERSONAL original notes. Software that automatically creates back links and directory submissions will generate a little but of SEO juice, but in the long rung, posting relevant links on Linked In, Facebook, online forums will generate more qualified traffic than these "autopilot" programs.

As Daniel suggested, first listen to leaders in your market, discover topics people are asking about, and start answering questions. You could even ask key bloggers and tweeters to review and hopefully write about and link to your content. Chances are they would be highly receptive.

The best way to promote your blog is to interact in the community - in social media and the blogosphere. Find the movers and shakers in your field and interact with them on their blogs. Find where your customers spend their time online and make yourself known, whether in a forum site, LinkedIn, twitter, facebook, etc.

No software, no matter how great it says it is, will give you the same results as real human interaction. If you're only interested in driving traffic for affiliate sales or something along those lines, then you'll probably need software like this. Otherwise I wouldn't recommend it. The howtopromoteablogsite is not very forthcoming about how it builds links and spreads your posts. I would be wary of using it for any legitimate blog.

Of course maybe I'm unaware of certain white hat software for leigitimate blog promotion, so anyone can feel free to follow up on this.
